It is cheaper than beeswax and paraffin.It 's also easy to work.

When Richards got into the field of candle making, I wanted to find a cheaper alternative to beeswax. After trying different vegetable waxes, eventually created a vegetable-based wax, coconut oil, hydrogenated soybean oil and palm oil. Similarly, beeswax mixed with soy wax to make a cheap natural wax candle.

In 1995, soy candles were distributed to the first presentation public by the body shop. Then, six years later, Cargill bought the patent to the creation of Richard and are now the leading manufacturer of wax soybeans.

Production process of soy wax

The main ingredient for the production of soy wax is soy oil. You need to use about 60 kg of soybeans to produce 10 kg of soybean oil. With a specialized, hydrogenated soybean oil into a solid.

When hydrogenated soybean oil is not very resistant. Therefore, the only type of candles that are limited to container candles. In order to form other types of candles, such as: votive or pillar candles, you need to mix other ingredients such as paraffin or stearic acid to your soy wax what is going to be strong enough to give form to those forms.

At present, there is no regulation that dictates what the composition of the soy wax should be. Therefore, it will check with your provider to see if you really have 100% soy wax, or if mixed with something else.
