Paraffin Wax Candle Making

Can you use paraffin wax on dreadlocks?

I don't have any money to go get dreading wax and plus my car is broke down. And I was told that you cannot use candle wax because of the stuff they put in them when they make them. But I have some pure paraffin wax can I use that? Or does asnyone know of any sites that offer free samples of dreading products?
